We are seeking multiple software engineers with experience in computer vision, machine learning, graphics and AR/VR.
The Perceiving Systems Department at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tuebingen is creating the world’s most realistic human and animal avatars for use in research, film, virtual reality and medicine. Using unique 3D & 4D capture facilities, machine learning, computer vision, and advanced graphics, we are modeling every nuance of how humans and animals look and move. We develop algorithms to estimate human shape and motion in images, videos, RGB-D sequences, etc. Our approaches define the current state of the art and we are pushing these systems to have increasing accuracy and availability.

You will work closely with scientists to support the basic research, computer vision and deep learning infrastructure for current and future projects. You will develop software to create realistic virtual human avatars from scans, motion capture, video and sensor data.
The work is team oriented and we create both scientific papers and distributable software.
- Python and C++ programming experience (2+ years)
- Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting skills
- Good mathematical background in linear algebra, probability and statistics
- Good written/spoken English are required
Experience with any of the following would be a plus:
- Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Deep learning tools (TensorFlow, Torch, Caffe, etc.)
- Data annotation and services like Mechanical Turk
